Lipstick Under My Burkha

Indian Film Festival Sydney

18 August 2017 - 20 August 2017

Four women in Bhopal lead double lives in this provocative comedy.

From the rebellious student to the erotica-loving grandmother, each one risks everything to find excitement in the face of suffocating social conventions. This comedic battle cry was initially banned by the Central Board of Film Certification(India), claiming “The story is lady-oriented, their fantasy about life. There are continuous sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography…hence film refused.” Here’s your chance to stick a finger up at that ruling.
