Czech and Slovak Film Festival

13 September 2017 - 14 October 2017

The Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia showcases, celebrates and promotes a contextualised range of classic and modern Czech and Slovak live-action and animated films to Australasian and expatriate audiences through a yearly, not-for-profit arts festival.

It encourages active participation in and from the Czech and Slovak communities for the advancement of their culture in Australasia and cultivates mutually beneficial partnerships with Czech, Slovak and local businesses and cultural organisations.

The program will include a pick of the greatest film adaptations of Czech and Slovak literature, like Marketa Lazarová, Jiří Menzel’s classic collaborations with Bohumil Hrabal, beloved fairy tales and films based on graphic novels. The theme will inspire accompanying exhibitions, a feature of all festivals to date.
