Queer Screen’s 25th Mardi Gras Film Festival
Queer Screen’s 25th Mardi Gras Film Festival is a celebration of creativity bringing the best and most diverse LGBTIQ content to the big screen.
Tickets are on sale now for the first 10 films of the program. Held at Event Cinemas George Street, and touring venues across NSW, MGFF 2018 will showcase a wide range of passionate LGBTIQ cinema, both past and present, and from all corners of the globe.
2018 also marks the 25th year of My Queer Career- a Australia’s largest competition for LGBTIQ short films. For more than two decades, My Queer Career has unearthed the latest and greatest Aussie queer filmmakers.
A standout of the festival so far is Signature Move, the most played lesbian film on the LGBT festival circuit this year. A multicultural rom-com about a Pakistani-American lawyer whose mother wants nothing more than for her daughter to find a husband and experience the love and happiness she once had.
They, a non-binary/trans arthouse title from Cannes, is a stunning meditation on the nature of gender, cultural identity, and the importance of family, crafted by Iranian director Anahita Ghazvinizadeh and executive producer Jane Campion.
The Queer Screen Mardi Gras Film Festival will take place from 15 February- 1 March 2017.
